Upcoming Poll on Potential Sheriff Candidates for 2010 Election

On June 8th, I will be posting a poll to gauge what the public might be looking for in a Sheriff candidate next year in Ferry County.   Who do you think might be a good candidate?   As of now, I am going to post Pete Warner, Tom Williams, and Bret Roberts.   I don’t know what plans they might have on whether or not to run, but those are the three individuals in the area that have run for Sheriff in the past and are still employed in law enforcement.   Does anyone have any other suggestions for anybody else who should run, or should be included in this poll?   Have your suggestions in by the 5th.

    maycumber!

Well lets see Bret Roberts run again. Now that his wife has sued the county and received a monetary award he would be a fool (to try to run).

Steve, when are you going to update your upcoming poll on 2010 Sheriff candidates, since neither Roberts, Williams nor Maycumber are running.

  • Steve Graham:

Good question bubo! Yep, Dennis Boone is the only one who is announced. I assume Warner will run, but maybe i will wait until after the filing period so i don’t miss anyone. I kinda have mixed feeling about the poll because obviously it is not very scientific. And if i do have a new poll, i probably won’t allow comments, because otherwise things kinda get negative pretty quick, and it is hard for me to decide when someone crosses the line where I should not approve the comment. So I guess look to the saturday after the filing period and then i will have a new poll up. Also, in case anyone was wondering i definitely won’t be doing any polls for the prosecutor/judge/commissioner race. :) I get asked about that sometimes on the street and i definitely don’t want to go there.

I am not sure what to write about next. I have covered prosecutor’s opening, defense opening, prosecutor closings, defense closing, leading questions, cross exams for lawyers and witnesses, general tips for witnesses, and dealing with forgetful witnesses, and hearsay, etc. I need the readers to give me some feedback in terms of what other questions […]
  • Mock Trial Closing Arguments for the Defense Attorney October 3, 2011
As you probably have already learned, the defense attorney delivers his or her closing argument after the prosecutor speaks. In addition, since the prosecutor has the burden of proof, he or she is allowed to speak again after the defense counsel speaks. The mock trial defense lawyer only has one opportunity to speak. Unlike a […]

So you are nearing the end of your mock trial, and now it is time for you to do your closing argument.  Hopefully you have given this a little thought before it is your turn to get up and speak.  Unlike an opening statement, which can be written entirely in advance, the closing argument has […]
